A non-psychotrophic compound in marijuana has been shown to speed the bone healing process in rats. Cannabinoid cannabidiol, or CBD, has been shown by scientists to not only heal the bone quicker but actually make the bone tougher and less likely to break in the future. CBD’s main mechanism is anti-inflammatory. The CBD was tested alone and with THC, the compound in marijuana that creates the “High” sensation, in rats with femoral breaks and the CBD worked just as well alone.

No joint smoking rats were used in the study, the compound was delivered via injection, so don’t hop a plane to Washington or Colorado if you break a bone. The injection delivery probably kept the food costs of the study lower I assume. Thank you to our furry heroes!
