Researchers have created a robotic dog that they hope will be useful as a means of therapy for people suffering from PTSD. Therabot, the robotic beagle is capable of nuzzling, prodding, and making sounds in the same way a live dog would respond to a person. Animal-assisted therapy has already shown to have great success as a treatment for PTSD, and this hopes to expand on that. As realistic as Therabot is, he won’t trigger someone’s allergies the way a real dog might, and he also is 100% housebroken, making him the perfect dog. This research will benefit soldiers that may not have been able to take advantage of animal-assisted therapy as a treatment for their PTSD.
