An injured rhino that was mutilated by poachers is getting a second chance at life thanks to animal research.
Poachers shot the rhino, killed her calf, and then hacked off her front horn, leaving her bleeding and dying. After sedating and treating the rhino for her wounds, rescuers used a bandage made from elephant skin. The bandage had to be a strong and lightweight material that would be pliable enough to shape to the wound. The bandage should last up to a month, and veterinarians say that the rhino is already healing well.
This is just another example of animal research helping not only people, but other animals as well.
