Anyone who owns a dog knows the true value of that wag of the tail, how all the stress of the day can melt with those happy to see you eyes. Because of this pure joy therapy dogs are widely used in children’s hospitals, nursing homes, and relief for PTSD suffers.

In a recent study, that follows 42 chemotherapy patients over six weeks of aggressive chemo treatments, that were visited 15 minutes daily by trained therapy dogs. Due to the intense treatments, the study showed an overall deterioration of the patient physical well being but yet there social and emotional well being. One patient stated “I would have stopped treatment, but I wanted to see the dog”.

With this data, which is scientific evidence not just simple observations, therapy dogs may become more a fixture for those suffering from cancer and the ill effects of chemotherapy.
