My mother was one of many polio sufferers. Thankfully she was never crippled due to the disease. In fact I just took her hiking in Eldorado State Park a week ago for her 81st birthday! Thank goodness for biomedical research using animals so millions are healthy today.

Your precise views strike the heart of a great number of families. Without this great contribution by dedicated researchers, where would we be? Animal research works !!!!!
Most kids today don’t even know what polio is, thanks to animal research leading to the vaccine. The Final Inch is a powerful documentary about trying to get the vaccine to every last child. Good stuff!

Excellent point Laura and thank you for sharing the link!
Both of my high school BFF’s parents had polio when they were young. We heard stories from them about how horrific it was. Thank goodness for the polio vaccine that ensures that our generation & those after us won’t ever have to go through that!
People take it for granted that we DON’T know what these diseases are like anymore- this is a great reminder of just one of the many reasons to VACCINATE! Great post!
